There have been some very intersting discussions regarding this topic. I think the debate has been moreso for a cash tournament like the wsop main event, and if there are multiple allins in front of you do you call allin with AA on the very first hand of the tournament. If you have AA and you are up against 4 other random hands you will only win the pot 55% of the time. So 45% of the time you will be out of the tournament and 55% of the time you will have 5x the starting stack. Winning big pots early in the tourament isn't worth as much as later on in the tournament which is obvious. Lets say there are 100 players to start, and each has 5k starting stack. That means there is 500,000 total chips in play. So to win the tournament you need to win all 500,000 chips. In this first hand example you have a 55% chance of taking your stack from 5k to 25k with a 45% chance of being eliminated. So yes I think you can fold it. If you are only going to up against 1 or 2 players then I take my chances. Also the other thing to be considered is how good is your table, and the field in general? If it is very soft, then taking big chances isn't needed as much cause you figure to to do some damage later on anyways. If you are at a very tuff table and will find it hard to get in good spots, then just go for it. Well thats my 2 cents.
