CLINE AVENUE CLOSED! Ha! Ha!

Postby magoo » Sun Nov 15, 2009 2:49 am

I like to play cards, but am no fan of Indiana gaming in general. I see the State of Indiana and the casino businesses as one entity, on a mission to ROB people from Chicago and Illinois.

LFMAO !!

(But, not so funny...You could lose your life, trying to get to any of those casinos, taking side streets.)

They can rob me all day as long their poker rooms remain far superior to those found in Illinois.

That's fine. You like to play cards, too. But be careful, in the vicinity of Horseshoe Hammond, Indiana. Chicago starts a few blocks west of Horseshoe. That is the high crime, (recent) immigrant, gang infested, murderous, tenth ward.

Not so funny now. Cline Ave bridge is permanently closed. Heck, I used that road for more than casino hopping. :(

Cline Avenue Bridge in NW Indiana closed permanently
December 28, 2009 3:37 PM | No Comments
Indiana transportation officials will keep the Cline Avenue bridge between Hammond and East Chicago closed because of structural problems with the span, they announced today.

The 1¼-mile bridge, which also is part of State Road 912, was closed last month after structural engineers with state contractor URS Corp. raised concerns about significant corrosion on the bridge.

Officials realize the bridge closure will hit Northwest Indiana commuters hard, but "the structural integrity of the bridge is in such a dimished state that any combination of repair or reconstruction required to meet minimum safety requirements would cost in the tens of millions of dollars," and not be worth the cost, Indiana Transportation Commissioner Michael Reed said in a statement.

Officials said they hope to decide by the end of February how to replace the bridge.

The review of the bridge's structural integrity was part of a six-year inspection contract covering nine bridges that use what's known as post-tensioned concrete box girder bridges statewide, according to INDOT.

The inspections came about after the collapse of the I-35W Mississippi River Bridge in Minnesota on Aug. 1, 2007 that killed 13 people and injured about 145. That bridge collapse pointed to problems with inspections of bridges throughout the country.

State and local officials will speed up work to improvements on nearby streets that are handling traffic diverted from the Cline Avenue Bridge, officials said.
